WOW! Works of Wonders

Dear St. Paul’s Family,

Throughout this month, we are celebrating Works of Wonder—the countless ways God is already at work in our congregation, our community, and our lives.

Sometimes it is easy to become so busy with the work of the church that we forget to stop and notice the wonder of:

  • A hot meal placed before someone who is hungry.

  • Clothes offered freely to someone who needs them.

  • Friendships formed around a table.

  • Opening Scripture together and encountering the Living Christ.

  • A card arriving at just the right time, reminding someone that they are loved and remembered.

  • Quilts made by faithful hands and given as tangible signs of care.

These are not simply programs on a church calendar. They are places where God is at work.

That is what our WOW! Works of Wonder campaign is about. Every Sunday through October 25th, we are looking closely at the everyday ways people see God working in their lives and through the ministries of St. Paul’s.

Through worship, fellowship, outreach, service, and ordinary moments of grace, we are asking a simple question: Where do you see God at work?

Over the past several Sundays, members of our congregation have already helped us answer that question. We have heard about the ministry of our Monday Night Dinner and Clothes Closet, the fellowship found through our Older Wiser Lutherans, and the relationships and community being built through our Young Adult Luther League.

In the weeks ahead, we will hear about people encountering Christ through Bible study, about the caring ministry of our Caregivers who send cards and reach out to those who need to know they have not been forgotten, and about our Quilt Ministry, where love takes shape one stitch at a time.

Each story is different, but together they remind us of something important:

We don’t create the wonder. We join what God is already doing.

That is also why stewardship is ultimately about much more than a financial commitment.

Stewardship begins with recognizing what we have already received: grace, generosity, belonging, purpose, community, and love. And when we begin to see those gifts more clearly, our response becomes one of gratitude.

Our journey will lead us to Commitment Sunday on October 25th, when Jesus’ words bring us back to the heart of it all: Love God and love your neighbor. The wonder we witness, the grace we receive, and the gifts God has entrusted to us all lead us toward that same calling—to love.

As we prepare for ministry in 2027, we invite you to prayerfully consider how your gifts of time, talent, and treasure can help St. Paul’s continue sharing God’s love, serving our neighbors, building community, and creating opportunities for people to encounter the Living Christ.

Every commitment—large or small—helps make these Works of Wonder possible. We ask you to prayerfully return your commitment by Sunday, October 25th.

To make your commitment to 2027, please complete the Commitment Card that will be available at the church or online starting October 11th. Whether you prefer to fill out a commitment card in person or make your commitment online, we invite you to prayerfully respond by October 25th.

I invite you to pay attention.

Look around St. Paul’s.

Listen to the stories.

Think about your own life.

And ask yourself:

Where do I see God at work?

You might be surprised by how many Works of Wonder are happening all around us.

In Christ,

Pastor Jonathan
