WOW: Works of Wonder, our Fall Stewardship Campaign
We will highlight everyday ways people encounter God at work, in their lives, and in our church.
We will highlight various ministries that have made an impact in large part due to our financial giving.
At the 9:00 service, Damon Surratt offered what he called his “testimony”. He was raised in the church and attended every Sunday, but he never really studied the Bible. “On Sundays we get a snippet,” he said, “but on Wednesdays we get into the whole book.” His wife got him started with our previous study of St. Paul’s stained glass windows. She said she was going, so he went too, and he’s been hooked ever since. He’s now on his fourth study. “You can jump in at any point”, he added, “because each class brings you up to speed.”
Both had the same invitation: come and see. Join us Wednesdays at 11:00 a.m. or 5:30 p.m.
At the 11:00 service, lifelong member Margaret Lyerly recalled catechetical class with Pastor Frank Davis, when every Sunday sermon was followed by a weekday pop quiz. “Pastor Mark hasn’t bestowed that upon us, thank goodness!” Our studies have ranged from reading the Bible cover to cover, to Pastor Megahan’s detailed studies on the epistles, to Pastor Jonathan’s Christmas story with the Peanuts gang, to recent journeys through the gospels of John and Mark. Along the way, she said, she has made new friends, gotten to know old ones better, and grown in her faith.
